This Fire Hose Is Brand New, Really!
Allow us to elaborate. This hose has never actually been used. During the manufacturing process it has not passed inspection. Usually due to skewed coloring, mislabeling, sizing deviations, small tears, or other minor defects. Because these rubber fire hoses are manufactured under strict standards set by NFPA, any small defect will result in the hose being thrown out.
Although materials can be recycled and the manufacture could re-use the materials to make a new hose, it's too cost prohibitive. Especially since there's a woven layer of polyester in the middle. So it's about a 90% finished hose. The only step they didn't complete, was "curing" it. Basically heat treating the outside layer to make it nice, shiny, and resistant to oils.
The Faded Appearance Explained
This hose hasn't gone through the heated"curing" process. So there's a faded look when you compare it to a regular rubber hose. The functionality of this hose is 100% there, it just looks a bit unattractive. Think of it like a birthday cake missing the candles.
Does It Work?
Can you still move water through this hose? Absolutely. This finished version of this hose is capable of handling a service pressure of 400psi and test pressure of 800psi, that's some serious pressure. Although there may be small pinholes or leaks. This is not a common problem on all the hoses. But if you were to buy 1,000 feet in bulk, you might have one or two leaks in the entire batch.
How to fix that? Just cut off the section where the hose is leaking, and clamp on some 1.5" barb hose connectors from any hardware store, and your problem is solved.
It's Tough, Really Tough
This is actually the thickest hose they build. There is thicker and stronger hose than a real rubber nitrile fire hose. These are top of the line. The build quality on these hoses is incredible when comparing to regular lay-flat PVC hose. When this fire hose was being manufactured it was designed to be resistant to oils, regular abuse such as trucks rolling over them daily, mildew and rot resistant, and thick.

Returns on most new and unused items are accepted within 30 days of purchase unless items are described as "Special Order", "Used or Scrap", "Bulk Discounted Orders", "International Orders" or "Rare Fitting" in the product title or description. Custom length hoses are non-returnable. Custom lengths is anything outside of 25, 50, 75, or 100 feet. Customer is responsible for return shipping charges. If a return label is issued from Fire Hose Supply the return shipping fees will be deducted from the refund. A standard 25% restocking fee is applied to all returns. Returns must be approved before sending in. Contact us for an RGA or return slip for approval before you send in your returns. Once your returns slip has been issued it will list instructions with a ship-to address. Any return orders sent without an RGA or previous authorization may be rejected.
